Pantelis Peter Mikedis

October 31st, 1947 - July 31, 2021

Pantelis (Peter) Nikolaou Mikedis, 73, of Montreal, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, July 31st, 2021. Pantelis was born in Chios, Greece to the late Nikolaos and Evangelia Mikedis. He moved to Montreal at the age of 18, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree at Concordia University, as well as a Management Certificate from McGill University. He married the love of his life, Maria and they made Park-Extension their home, where they raised their four wonderful children with unconditional love. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a hardworking entrepreneur. As an active member of the Greek community, he also served as the president of the Chian Association of Montreal for many years – an organization he held close to his heart.

He was selfless and well-respected, many sought him out for his wisdom, knowledge, financial and life advice. Any problem was turned into an opportunity. His natural ability to quickly resolve any problem while reassuringly melting away worry was unparalleled.

There is no simple way to describe a man of such grandeur; some of the most prominent of his infinite qualities were that he was reliable, supportive, generous, open-hearted, resourceful, determined, dedicated, humble, organized, and an avid story-teller. These qualities were well-balanced by his playfulness, his sense of humour and his love for life, his family and his friends.

He was everyone's pillar and will be sorely missed by all his friends and relatives in Canada, the United States and Greece. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson. Pantelis is survived by his beloved wife Maria (née Banas), children Theodora (Angelo), Nickolaos (Anila), Evangelia (Charalambos), Demetrios, his grandson Alexander Pantelis, his sister Mary Stroumbakis (Petros), his brother Vassilios (Elpida), his sister in-law Katina Kokkinaki, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his parents Nikolaos and Evangelia, as well as his brother Stylianos.

The celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Aeterna (55 Rue Gince, Saint-Laurent, QC, H4N 1J7). In accordance to public health regulations, funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 11:30 AM at Evangelismos Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church (777 Rue Saint-Roch, Montreal, QC, H3N 2X2) and the burial will follow at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Pantelis' name to help repair his cherished church, Agia Marina in his village of Mirmigi, Chios or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Pantelis was like a dad for me and my brother, Aris. A pillar, a steady and calm reference to learn a lot about life and our greek heritage. From the corner depanneur filled with Mr Freezes and firecrackers, to Orthodox Easter filled with candles, koulourakia and feasts, Pantelis was always present and available for advice and conversation, and a fare share of humour. Although we haven't spoken much in the past years, he has played such an important role in my life as the age of 11. With his passing, across distance and time, I realize I feel more steady in my own life because of his passage in mine. I wish I had the wisdom to realize this beforehand and let him know while he was still alive. From wherever you are, I hope you can hear my love and words. Thank you Theio for all of what you were in general and in my life. I can't imagine the emptiness his death has created in the lives of his beloved children, wife, family and friends. If there is anything I can do, just let me know. I wish I was there with all of you. Love you all Mikedis crew. I miss you all.
