It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard SUSKI at the age of 70.
C’est avec grande tristesse et le cœur lourd que nous vous annonçons le décès de Richard SUSKI, à l’âge de 70 ans.
My beloved brother, Richard Suski, passed away in Montreal at his home on Sunday, March 28th at the age of 70. He is predeceased by his parents Marja and Jan Suski and cherished friend Alexander Hamelin and furry friends, Tito, Sahara, and Jessie.
Richard is survived by his sister, Krystina(Britta), childhood friends Lucy( Tom)Gilson, Olivia(John)Hamelin and dearly cherished friend and caregiver, Anastasia(Manuel) Georgiou, Marisha (Janek) Tchir as well as many cousins in Poland and the Ukraine.
Richard was a musically talented youth who played many instruments by ear and sang beautifully in a choir at St Patrick's church (Montreal). He was an air cadet and later a reservist with the Canadian Air Force. He worked as an electronics technician and in manufacturing his early years.
Many thanks to Naomi Lapain MSW, Linda Palaremo RN, and Dr. Kolovakis of the Allan Memorial Hospital who treated him with dignity and respect while schizophrenia robbed him of all that each of us may take for granted on a daily basis. Nonetheless, his life disguised by his challenges gave purpose and connection unknowingly to those who were involved in his life.
Richard's life was simple. His joys were music sitting in the sun, enjoying the flowers, birds and the company of people who came into his life or who passed by as he sat on his balcony. Richard thrived in Casselman where he often visited his sister in the country, this was a true joy for him.
Richard had a wonderful sense of humour and he was a very kind soul who is now free.
