On a white snowy day, when everything was cold and shining outside, the suffering finally came to an end. On January 7, 2022, a pure soul left its body to join its creator.

Elia Shaheen’s destiny was to rest in the diaspora, far away from where his life had begun. The life that was full of love, gratitude, humility, serving others, and appreciating the true value of human nature.

He grew up in a moderate and humble environment in Sednaya and studied for years to become a physician who can serve the sick and needy regardless of their means.

He raised his children and helped raise his eldest grandchildren to become the better version of himself. A true believer that one’s reputation is an eternal memory among those impacted by his presence and his deeds.

“People are of different characters, we don’t have to be like them, but we have to work with that difference”, a saying he used to repeat to diffuse any tension between people.

He is survived by his wife Shakeh Oghlakian, his son Philip, his daughter Mirna, his grandchildren Areen and Yervant Manouguian, Zara and Raphael Elia Shaheen, his daughter in law Patil Bozabalian and his son in law Sevan Manougian, in addition to his brothers and their families, and many cousins.
