KONSTANTINOS (DINO) ROUMELIOTIS
Our cherished father and grandfather passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on December 26th, 2022, at the Jewish General Hospital at the age of 95.
Dino, son of the late Panagiotis and the late Anastasia Roumeliotis was predeceased by his beloved wife Stavroula (Voula) and all his siblings.
He is survived by his adored son Peter (Panagiotis), daughter-in-law Dimitra and his treasured grandson, Constantinos (Costa). Also survived by his brothers-in-law Dimitrios and Michael and numerous nieces and nephews, in Montreal, Canada, the US and Greece.
Originally from Elos (Dourali), Laconia, Greece, Dino emigrated to Canada and married Voula in 1959.
He would recount stories of his youth in Elos and how he often taught the local youth to dance using a borrowed gramophone.
During his stint in the army, he had the sensitive, important and highly secretive task of being a morse code operator.
He and Voula raised their only son Peter with love, attention, and care always part of their circle of friends, neighbors, and relatives and within the Greek community.
In his later years, after retiring, he spent countless hours with his wife at the Laconian Brotherhood of Canada, helping to preserve our Spartan culture.
A quote from his cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Afilalo, “…a great man, and I’m not hesitant to say -my favourite patient. He will continue to be my foremost model for a robust older adult, and an overall exemplary person.”.
We will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor, to the Cardiology department of the Jewish General Hospital of Montreal.
