To Helen’s dear children, I and my mother, Julie Smouha, loved your mother. The story of her life was heroic, she always found a way round every stumbling block. She spoke a lot about her daughter and son, she was so proud of you both, and later also of her grandchildren. We had many wonderful times together. At one point I stopped using her as a hairdresser, but I still went down to my mum’s apartment to hear the latest news. She was a lovely person, a real personality who enriched our lives.
