It is with a heavy heart that we announce today the passing of Kyriacoula Askounis Sarganis on January 21 at the age of 83. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Theodore Sarganis; her adoring children Costa and Catherine; her beautiful grandchildren Stephanie (Yan), Lambros, Nicolas and Theodora and her great grandchildren Margaux and Romy. She is also survived by her sister Yanoula (Peter) Santikos; her brother George (Katerina) Askounis and her sister in law Kalliopi Panopalis along with many cousins , nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother John Askounis, sisters Afroditi Chtouros and Katina Andros.
Kyriacoula, better known as Koula, loved everyone and everything with all of her heart and in return was loved and admired by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Not only was she an amazing seamstress but few knew that she was an accomplished artist: she made beautiful icons and created original paintings of her beloved Monemvasia, Greece. Koula will be enormously missed for her beautiful smile and infectious laughter.
