It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luis Manuel Ponte, peacefully, at Sacré Coeur Hospital, on June 17, 2023, at the age of 56.  Luis was predeceased by his parents, José Jacinto Ponte and Maria Espírito Santo Melo Ponte; and his sister, Maria Espírito Santo Ponte.  He will be missed by his loving siblings:  Maria Conceição (James Kuhr), José Francisco (Bertha Colombe), Maria Fátima (José Medeiros), João Luis (Venus Mavrothalassitis), and Margarida Rosário; His nieces and nephews:  Kimberley (Matthew Curran), Christopher, Nicole, Michael (Kristy Robson), Matthew, Christina (Nacho Tagle) and Sarah (John Cameron); His great-nieces and nephew:  Ariel, Gideon and Olivia; and many other family members and friends. 

Grateful thanks to CHSLD St. Laurent – the nurses, préposées, auxiliary staff, and everyone who helped to make this his home over the past nine years.  Thank you to the doctors, nurses and everyone at Sacré Coeur Hospital for their care and caring.

The family will greet you at AETERNA Funeral Complex (55 rue Gince, Montréal, Québec H4N 1J7, Tel 514-228 1888 or 1-877-299-1889, complexeaeterna.com) on Tuesday, July 4, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.  (The immediate family will hold a private viewing before 9:30 am.)  The Funeral Service will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Church (875, Marcel-Laurin Blvd., St-Laurent) at 12:30 pm.  The burial will follow at St-Laurent Cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers, donations to Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), the Epilepsy Program (at the Montreal Neurological Institute), or Sacré Coeur Hospital would be appreciated.

Luis lived a life filled with pain and he bore it with grace, patience, joy and kindness.  He helped to keep us humble and will forever be our very-much-loved little brother.  Rest in peace, Luis.
