Mabel Woods, beloved mother of David and Chantale Nurse, and grandmother to Jonathan and Athena, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023. She leaves behind a long legacy of loved ones, including her sister 'Yvonne' Fredreeka Isabella Valerie, her daughter-in-law Connie Mak, her ex-husband Maurice Nurse, and many other friends and family members with whom she spent countless holidays, dinners, activities, and time together.

Mabel had a passion for health and healing. After 30 years of service working for Bell Canada, she pursued her interest in alternative health following her retirement at the young age of 55. Mabel trained as a registered reflexologist and helped many people find comfort in both body and spirit. Her spiritual views transcended doctrine, and she believed in the power of angels in her own life and the lives of others. Balancing the spiritual with the physical, Mabel spent almost daily time at the gym, enjoying the social dynamics of fitness alongside the physical benefits of exercise.

In honour of Mabel and the many lives she touched, we invite you to join her family and friends for a memorial and celebration of her life on Saturday 9 September from 1-5pm at Aeterna Funeral Complex. Following Mabel’s love for celebration, this gathering will be festive, with her favourite music and bright colours. If you wish, we invite you to wear red, her favourite colour, in honour of her passion for life.
