It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother, Nicoletta Pavlis born Kourmouda, in her 90th year. An age of incredible achievement and full of milestones, she passed peacefully on June 26th, 2023.

Nikoletta immigrated to Canada from the small village, Skoura, to Montreal, Canada in 1955 at the age of 22. Having survived WW2 and learning to grow up fast during a dark time in the world, she often shared stories of having to house German soldiers in her home and charming Italian soldiers with her beauty and wit. The political strife of these times was not lost on her, and it lay the groundwork of a woman who remained deeply informed until her last days, of news and politics around the world.

Frustrated with the lack of opportunity working in the fields brought her to yearn for a bigger and brighter life that her incredible intelligence and lust for life could bring her. Not speaking a word of English, or French she was led by her fortitude and came to Montreal with no family, friends or knowledge of what path lay ahead. She worked hard and made friends with many of the other young woman who had also made the trip. The difference was - she was still alone. As immigration laws evolved, she recognized the incredible opportunity and began sponsoring her family to immigrate as well. Within one year she had established the foundations with which to start a family and a new life and by 1957, Peter and Nicoletta were married.

As parents, they worked hard to provide for their three children: Kathy, Tasia, and Angelo. Everything they did was to give them a better life. She instilled her fearless nature into her growing family, a lesson that would transcend generations to her 4 grandchildren, Anastasia, Stacey, George, and Pierce. But her lasting life lesson that she would pass to all who knew her was to love life. Always the first on the dance floor, she knew all the words to the songs she would sing. Her κέφι was infectious.

During her short stay at CHSLD Vigi Mount-Royal in the last months of her life, she left a lasting impression and became a favorite of the staff, always grateful for their care and kindness. Of course, she won them over, even if it was with her stubborn nature! She remained loving, forgiving and accepting until her last days and we will all miss her presence and guidance in our lives.

May her memory be eternal. May she forever rest in peace.

I have been looking for. This kind of detailed information on this web page is excellent and needed and is going to assist my family and friends in our studies quite often. It is obvious this forum gained a lot of info concerning the things I am interested in and other subjects and information really show it. I'm not typically on the internet during the day however when I get a chance im more often than not hunting for this kind of factual information or things closely related to it. When you get a chance, check out at my website: grant usa writing within College Park, Maryland
