Aranka Karnyacki, born in Budapest, Hungary, on July 4, 1952, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2024, due to congestive heart failure. She was 71 years old.

Aranka’s early life was marked by remarkable courage and resilience. At the tender age of 4, she and her mother fled Hungary during the 1956 Revolution, seeking refuge in Canada. After completing her elementary school in Winnipeg, she moved to Montreal with her mother, where she completed her high school and college diploma in fashion design and pattern making. Aranka briefly worked as a fashion designer but found her true passion in dancing.

She began her dance career as an instructor at Arthur Murray Dance School and later founded her own dance school, the Stars of Dance. The dance school became renowned for its annual recitals at Place des Arts and dance competitions in Montreal and Ottawa. Aranka was also a published author, with two dance books to her name, and taught dance for the Concordia Adult Education School Board. In addition to her dance school, she also managed a daycare during the week.

As she grew older and found it challenging to manage both businesses, Aranka transitioned to a new career as a real estate agent, where she also assisted her son in finding his first real estate investment property. Despite her busy professional life, Aranka pursued various hobbies including oil painting, ceramics, reading, rug hooking, and needlepoint.

In her retirement years, Aranka found solace in bible study groups and continued to volunteer for seniors, church, and fundraising events, demonstrating her selfless nature. She is survived by her son Cliff (Jessica) and two granddaughters Milla and Emma, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and kindness.
