We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Efstathia Kastana Giannacopoulos at age 86.
Efstathia was born in the village of Karyes (Arahova), Laconia and immigrated to Canada in pursuit of a better life for herself and to have a family. She successfully attained these aspirations with the support and compassion of her loved ones.
She leaves behind her children Helen and Demetrios (Lisa), her grandchildren, Peter (Marina), Thomai Amy (Jonathan), Steven (Sabrina), Julia (Leslie), and great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Anna.
She is succeeded by her brothers Peter (Dimitra) and Niko (Kalliope). She was preceded by her loving husband Eustratios, and sisters Eustratia and Eleni whom she loved deeply.
Efstathia, known to many as Giagia, had an immense love for her family and friends. Her days would be filled with a number of visits, each bringing about vibrant discussion. In her pastime, she would always be found with a book in hand, reading about a range of subjects from history, to the arts or the latest political biography. Efstathia’s summers would be spent outdoors tending to her garden and flowers and enjoying the company of her beloved husband.
She will be tremendously missed and fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.
We would like to express an immense amount of gratitude to the staff at la Maison de la Sérénité for their compassionate and attentive care in the final weeks of Efstathia’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Efstathia kindly asked donations be made In Memoriam to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation to help children in need. Link: https://shorturl.at/rTUpv
