Ivy Hermine Gooden Beloved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2024 at the age of 90. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Born on March 6th, 1934, in Kingston Jamaica, Ivy Hermine Gooden was the daughter of Adrian McHargh and Eva Leg. She grew up in St. Elizabeth in a little country town named Mulgrave in St. Elizabeth Jamaica. While in Jamaica she met Charlie Gooden, and they fell in love and got married. In 1962 she migrated to Canada on the West Indian Domestic Scheme a targeted immigration program through which approximately 3,000 women from the Caribbean came to Canada to work as domestic workers. When in North America she lived both in Canada and the United States and ultimately made Montreal, Quebec her forever home with her husband. She worked as a caregiver and nursing assistant.
Affectionately known as Sista Tuna, Auntie Tuna, or Sister Golden. She will forever be known for her unwavering kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her creative nature was demonstrated in her love for needlepoint, crocheting, and feeding people, as well as her love for fashion.
Throughout her life, Ivy Hermine Gooden was deeply involved with her church and was ordained as Mother Gooden for her devotion for God and commitment. Ivy Hermine Gooden dedicated her life to serving others and had a profound impact on all who knew her.
Her warm smile and gentle spirit brought joy to everyone she met and her dedication to helping those in need will leave a legacy of love and service.
Ivy Hermine Gooden will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
