It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nikolaos DAFNIOTIS at the age of 91.
C’est avec grande tristesse et le cœur lourd que nous vous annonçons le décès de Nikolaos DAFNIOTIS, à l’âge de 91 ans.
Nick Dafniotis passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, in Montreal, Quebec, at the age of 91.
Predeceased by his parents Olga and Konstantinos, his brothers George and Louie and his sister Potitsa. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vasiliki, his children Olga (Marc), Zoe (Michael), Dino (Illya), Panagiota (Todd), his sister Voula, as well as his grandchildren Stephanie, Nick, Pavlos, James, Nikolas, Yiani, Alexander and Victoria.
Born in Amikles (Sparta), Greece in October 1933, Nick was best known for his generosity, warmth, strong work ethic, witty sense of humor, wisdom, his unwavering love for his family and for always wanting to help others around him. And for his love of ice cream.
He was an avid storyteller, especially around the dinner room table, sharing stories of growing up as a child of war in Greece and building a life in Canada, often skillfully sketching parts of those stories on a dinner napkin with the pen he always had in his chest pocket. He shared these life stories with his children and grandchildren as lessons that instilled courage, strong family values and family connections, modesty, compassion, and an appreciation for the simpler things in life. His work ethic was unparalleled and something he passed on to his children and grandchildren who he was incredibly proud of.
Nothing made him happier than spending time with them.
He was someone you could always count on and was famously always offering to drive anyone, anywhere, at any time of the day or night, affectionately nicknamed “Pap-Uber” by his family. He was surrounded by his devoted family until his very last moments on this earth and died peacefully, knowing that he was embraced by love.
