Betty passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 71, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
She dedicated her life to caring for others, working over 30 years as a nurse at the Montreal General Hospital, in the OR and GI Departments, returning from retirement during COVID. She was deeply loved by her patients, colleagues, friends, and family, and touched countless lives through her gentle spirit and generous heart.
Outside of her work, Betty found joy in many hobbies, travelling, and her love for dogs. She adored her three rescue dogs, who brought her immense happiness and comfort.
Married 39 years to Dr. Arthur Ryder, whose partnership and devotion meant the world to her. She was a proud and devoted mother to her children; Katherine (Carlo), Jessica (Dave), and Christopher, who were the centre of her life. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Mona, her brother, Howard, and many extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father, Wing.
Betty Boo(p)’s warmth, laughter, and caring heart will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to both people and animals will live on forever.
A special thank you to the Cedars Cancer Center, Andreanne Chevrette, the ED and 9C staff.
A visitation/celebration of life will be held on January 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm. to 9:00 pm., at the Aeterna funeral home. 55 rue Gince, Montreal H4N 1J7
