It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Helen Tzortzis born Doukas, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born in Lambokabos, Laconia, Greece, she immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1959 where she married her husband, Demetre. Eleni, as we know her, dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for her husband of 66 years, and their 3 daughters.
Her greatest joy was spending time with all her family and cooking a delicious meal to be enjoyed by everyone who happened to be coming by the house. She enjoyed reading books and going through the newspaper every morning pointing out items of interest, whether it be current events or an interesting recipe. It brought her pleasure to share a coffee in the afternoon with her good friends and neighbors.
She will always be remembered as a beautiful, kind, patient, generous and loving woman; truly an amazing wife, mom, yiayia, and friend. A wonderful woman who loved unconditionally and always had a kind word for everyone.
She is survived by her husband Demetre; her children, Mary (Paul), Ioanna (Antonio) and Christina; her adoring grandchildren, Eleni, Demi (Costa), and Micheal; her brother John (Helen), sister Demetra, brother-in-law Kyriakos (Georgia); sister-in-law Yianoula and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Aeterna Funeral Home, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Saint George Cathedral at 11:30 am.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Father Dowd Residence for all the love and care they provided to our beloved mother. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to CHSLD Father Dowd, 6565 Chemin Hudson, Montreal, QC H3S 2T7.
