C’est avec grande tristesse et le cœur lourd que nous vous annonçons le décès de Maria Giovanna FRANCO RATTO, à l’âge de 90 ans.

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Giovanna FRANCO RATTO at the age of 90.

May 22, 1935 – October 25, 2025

 

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Maria Giovanna (RATTO) FRANCO, who left us on October 25^th, 2025, in her ninetieth year. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed peacefully after a courageous year-long battle with lung cancer.

Spouse of the late Giovanni Franco, she leaves behind her children Nicholas (Donna), Imma (Chris), Joe (Irene) and Tony (Diane), as well as her beloved grandchildren, Adam (Marion), Daniel (Konstantina), Jonathan, Alexander (Camille), Erica, Nicholas, Julia and Amalia, and her adored great-grandchildren James, Victor and Olivia. 

She also leaves her dear brother Antonio RATTO, including cherished sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, along with dear relatives and friends.

Maria Giovanna will always be remembered as a loving, hard-working wife and mother, who opened her heart and home to anyone who needed a place to stay. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, respect and strong family values, and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, October 30^th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and on Friday, October 31^st from 9:30am to 11:00am at the AETERNA Funeral Complex (55 rue Gince in Ville St. Laurent).

The funeral service will take place at 12:30pm on Friday, October 31^st at Notre Dame de Pompeii Church (2875 rue Sauvé Est).

The family wishes to thank the medical staff at the MUHC and at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, where she spent her final days. Special thanks to Dr. Tim Meagher and the nurses of CLSC de Saint-Laurent.

Con una profonde tristezza vi informiamo che all’età di 90 anni si è spenta serenamente nostra carissima mamma e nonna, Maria Giovanna (RATTO) FRANCO, il sabato, 25 ottobre, circondata dalla cara famiglia, dopo un anno di lotta contro il cancro dei polmoni.

Vedova del defunto Giovanni FRANCO, lascia nel dolore i suoi figli Nicola (Donna), Imma (Chris), Joe (Irene) e Tony (Diane), i suoi adorati nipoti Adam (Marion), Daniel (Konstantina), Jonathan, Alexander (Camille), Erica, Nicholas, Julia e Amalia, e i suoi amatissimi pronipoti James, Victor e Olivia.

Lascia anche il suo caro fratello Antonio RATTO, affezionate cognate e nipoti, insieme a parenti e amici cari.

Maria Giovanna sarà sempre ricordata come una moglie e madre amorevole e laboriosa, che ha sempre aperto il suo cuore e la sua casa a chiunque avesse bisogno. Ci lascia un’eredità di compassione, rispetto e forti valori familiari, e mancherà profondamente a tutti coloro che l’hanno conosciuta.

La famiglia riceverà le condoglianze il giovedì, 30 ottobre dalle ore 16:00 alle 21:00 e il venerdì, 31 ottobre dalle ore 9:30 alle 11:00, presso il complesso funerario AETERNA (55 rue Gince in Ville St. Laurent).

Il funerale si terrà venerdì, 31 ottobre alle ore 12:30 alla chiesa Notre Dame de Pompeii (2875 rue Sauvé Est).

La famiglia desidera ringraziare il personale medico del MUHC e della Residenza di Cure Palliative Teresa Dellar, dove Maria Giovanna ha trascorso i suoi ultimi giorni. Un ringraziamento speciale al Dr. Tim Meagher e alle infermiere del CLSC di Saint-Laurent.
