Surrounded by God, love and family who never left her side during her final weeks, our beloved mother Renilda, passed away peacefully in Montreal, Quebec after an 8-year battle with cancer on December 5th, 2025.
Along with her three children Rodney Austin, Kathleen Audrey and Michael Angelo and granddaughter Maia Africa, Renilda is survived by her mother Ludivina and siblings Edgardo (Luisa), Aquilino (Corazon), Renelu (Sallie) and Andrew (Connie) as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, Godchildren, grand nieces/nephews and friends. She is reunited in heaven with her father Renato, loving partner Bryan, sister Leonora and nephew Jemar Andy.
Lovingly referred to as Ine, Nilda, Mama, Ate, Lola, Ninang and Tita, Renilda was a profoundly strong, resilient and generous woman. Renilda’s unwavering commitment to provide the best life she could for her entire family, immediate and beyond, was undeniable from the very first day she arrived in Canada in 1974. Her steadfast devotion to others continued not only in her professional life of 48 years as a highly respected, consummate accountant, but also in her relationships with cherished friends and her volunteer work at church. Renilda was a force to be reckoned with and always lived life to the fullest, courageously and fearlessly.
Renilda’s greatest joy was to spend every moment she could with her only granddaughter despite her health issues. For 7 years, “Lolako” was always there to celebrate and demonstrate her unconditional love for her “Maiako”.
Although our beloved Mother is no longer here with us physically, her presence, spirit and energy will remain with us always.
Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Cedars Cancer Centre - Glen M.U.H.C. and Lachine General Hospital - Palliative Care, who were incredible in the treatment and care of Renilda. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tran, Dr. Owen, Dr. Khadoury, Dr. Fernandez, Dr. Bhanabhai, Dr. Chaput and RN Rita Abi-Maroun.
