It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Mayer at the age of 61.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” – Anonymous
Rob was a gentle soul. He kept his grandfather’s teaching close to his heart. He loved and respected nature and animals. He would build shelters for the stray cats in the neighbourhood. He would jump out of his car so that he could help the police capture a Great Dane running in traffic. He would go as far as knocking logs before putting it in the fire pit to give any tiny creature one last chance of escape.
Then there was music. He loved every aspect of it, whether it improvising, discussing, teaching, or learning.
Rob was kind and engaged with anyone who was willing to have a conversation. He wanted to pass on his knowledge about music, environment,
and anything the younger generation were interested in. He just wanted everyone to be happy and have a good time.
There was no Rob without Enza, the love of his life. When she passed so did Rob. His soul was broken and there was no way of mending it. Rob was no longer the Rob we all knew. His troubled spirit is no more. He is now with her in full peacefulness and is with everyone he ever loved that had gone before him.
“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.”
― Robin Williams
