Pour François GauthierRainford “Rennie” Griffiths
1954-2023 18 octobre 2023THE LIFE OF Rainford “Rennie” Griffiths
Rainford Rennie Griffiths was born to Frances Headly and Harold Griffiths on August 20, 1954, in Petersfield, Westmoreland, Jamaica. He was the seventh of ten children: Rolland, James, Basil, Ned, Blossom, Venton, Berbeth, Clive and Newton. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, godfather, grandfather, Sunday School teacher and director, Vacation Bible School (VBS) teacher and director, minister, great friend and a God-fearing man.
Rainford spent majority of his childhood in Westmoreland before moving to Kingston where he stayed with family friends. In Kingston, he studied Baking & Pastry at the Culinary Institute of Jamaica. This knowledge would later lead to a career in the catering business which spanned for over 28 years at establishments such as SkyChef Catering and GateGourmet.
Outside of his professional career, Rainford was an active member in his local churches both in Jamaica and Canada. He got saved while attending the Church of God of Prophecy 47G Old Hope Road (formerly on Spaulding Lane) in Kingston, Jamaica. He was later ordained as minister under the guidance of Bishop Les R. Graham and Pastor Maria McLeod in the 1970s which was the blueprint for the work he would later do.
He was married to Janice Rose Soares in 1984 and later migrated to Canada to join his wife and son, Matthew. He fathered two children: Matthew and Ashlee and was a grandfather to Kaidy “Kai”. Rainford didn’t waste any time when he arrived in Canada and became a heavily active member at the Montreal West Church of God of Prophecy. A VBS director and Sunday School director, Rainford knew how to rally people together for the Lord and encourage them all on their Christian journey. VBS and Sunday School will not be the same without him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his good works. And it is safe to say that there is not one child in church who will forget his VBS classics such as “My Head, My Shoulder, My Knees and My Toes” and “Bits of Paper Laying on The Floor”.
This anointed man of God has fought a good fight and has gone home to meet his creator who will surely say to him, “Well Done, My Child”.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday Novembre the 11th a 10 am
at the Montreal West Church of God of Prophecy
5255 Rue de Sorel, Montréal, QC H4P 1G8
followed by the masse at 11h.
Flower deliveries must be made at church.
