Cremation service

Cremation (or incineration) has been practised for several thousand years and consists of burning and reducing the body of a deceased person to ashes. Like burial, it has been carried out all over the world, but it is only since 1963 that the Catholic Church has authorized this funeral technique.

During the cremation, the body of the deceased person is cremated in his coffin or cremation container at a temperature ranging from 1,000 to 1200 degrees Celsius. Under such heat, the container, clothing and body disintegrate, leaving only the bone materials as the cremation remains. Each crematory can accommodate only one coffin at a time and the process takes between 90 minutes and two hours.

After incineration, we place the ashes in a funeral urn. Urns are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Depending on your beliefs or values, there are then several options to choose from, once the ashes are collected in funeral urns. The urn can be placed in a columbarium, be buried in the cemetery or be kept at home.

The ÆTERNA Crematorium is unique in Quebec. It makes it possible to hold a private farewell ceremony right on site, in a high-quality environment. Families may, if they wish, transport the deceased here at the very last minute. Each ceremony is adapted to the tribute you want to pay, regardless of your beliefs and customs.
