It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicholas (Nick) KELEPERAS at the age of 59.

Nicholas Keleperas "Nick", was a gentle soul that left us too soon on Saturday January 22nd, 2022, at the age of 59,  surrounded by his loved ones. 

Nick was truly special. His warmth, generosity, and kindness touched all who knew him. He was selfless and compassionate, always putting others before himself and always eager to help. 

Nick fought boldly against lymphoma for 8 years. Even during his toughest days, he remained strong and positive. 

Nick led a successful career in the travel industry for 40 years. Through this time, he met some of his closest friends that he considered family. His caring demeanor and dedication to his clients made him well respected and valued in the Greek community. Everyone knew they could depend on Nick.  

His love for his community extended to the Pangitsa Church where he grew up. He treasured his spiritual fathers' Father Nick and Archbishop Sotirios.  

Nick was a devoted son to his mother Chrisanthi. He was loved fiercely by his Godfather and Uncle Vangelis who was a second father to him, his aunt and Godmother Fedra, his uncle Filimona and Aunt Elpida, his Aunt Smaragda, and Uncle Yianni.   He leaves behind his beloved cousins Helen (Gerry), Angela, John (Peggy), Billy (Tanya), Fedra, Tommy, Frank, Mihali, Fedra, Flora, John, George, his Goddaughter Dora. He will leave a deep void in the heart of his dear companion Helen and her entire family who loved and cherished him. 

Nick will be deeply missed by all his friends and family who had the privilege of knowing him. He has now joined his father, Elias, and his cousin Nick, in heaven.  

The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Jewish General Hospital that encouraged, supported, and comforted Nick through all these difficult times.

Ayant vécu 92 ans de bonheur, notre mère Pierrette Asselin Breton nous a quitté le 23 janvier 2022, pour aller rejoindre son mari, feu Norman Breton.

Elle laisse dans le deuil ses fils, Paul (Sylvie Racine), Mark (Michèle Houde), Pierre (Karima Bensouda) et Richard (Carmel St-Aubin), ses petits-enfants Catherine, Timothé, Mariane, Mishka, Sacha, Antoine et sa petite-petite fille, Ellie-Anne.

Outre sa famille proche, elle laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Cécile et Claire Asselin, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis.

Selon ses volontés, il n'y aura pas d'exposition et ses cendres seront inhumées à une date ultérieure au cimetière de St-Lambert.

La famille tient à remercier le personnel du CHUM pour les bons soins qui lui ont été prodigués en fin de vie.

Ramzi Antoine Chaker, décédé le 17 janvier 2022 au CHSLD Les Cèdres à Montréal.
Né en juillet 1924 sous le soleil d’Égypte, il nous a quittés à l’âge de 97 ans. Il est parti sereinement rejoindre son épouse Irma Chaker. Il était diplômé de l’Université d’Ottawa et de La Sorbonne à Paris. Il a joui d’une longue carrière de professeur de français à l’école St. Pius X et l’Université McGill. Il a dévoué sa vie à l’éducation et la promotion de la langue française.

Professeur, homme de famille, avocat, blagueur, le sourire de tous le suivait. Amour, esprit et chaleur furent les ingrédients d’une vie pleine pendant presque un centenaire. Il lègue à ses enfants, petits-enfants et ses petits petits-enfants le don des langues, l’art de la parole, le goût d’apprendre, la joie de vivre et le sentiment que les frontières ne sont jamais des barrières. Une autre belle histoire d’un émigrant qui a fait du Canada sa patrie et où il a réussi sa longue vie.

Il laisse dans le deuil ses filles et son fils, ainsi que leurs conjoints : Mariline (Normand), Pierrine (Gennaro), Désirée (Avrum), André (Hanna), ses petits-enfants Adrienne, Renato, Katherine, Matthew, Johanna, Alexandra et Tristan ainsi que ses petits petits-enfants. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil sa sœur Yvonne, plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins et amis en Égypte et au Canada. Son épouse Irma est décédée en 1991.

En raison des circonstances actuelles, des membres de la famille se réuniront en privé, et un dernier hommage aura lieu à une date ultérieur.

Ramzy Antoine Chaker, age 97, died at the CHSLD Les Cèdres in Montréal on January 17, 2022. He was a French teacher at St. Pius X high school for almost three decades and later taught at McGill University.

A teacher, a father, a lawyer, and a jester. Smiles followed him everywhere he went. Love, spirit and warmth were the ingredients of a rich life than spanned over a century. He leaves a special legacy behind to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: the gift of languages, the art of speaking, the spark of learning, his ‘joie de vivre’ and the knowledge that borders are never barriers. His life is another beautiful immigrant story of someone who made Canada his homeland and where he made a success of his long and impactful life.

A native of Cairo, Egypt, he immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1964. He earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Ottawa and a higher education degree from La Sorbonne in Paris. He dedicated his life to education and the promotion of the French language.

He is survived by his three daughters, one son and their spouses, Mariline (Normand), Pierrine (Gennaro), Désirée (Avrum) and André (Hanna) and their children Adrienne, Renato, Katherine, Matthew, Johanna, Alexandra, Tristan and his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Yvonne, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends in Canada and Egypt. He was preceded in death by his wife Irma in 1991.

Given the current circumstances, the family will meet privately, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
