"Native language” is the first language a person learns. It is the language that soothes us as children, that teaches us the basics of communication and that reminds us of our home or country of origin. With all its colours and subtleties, it evokes happy memories and the people we love.
When the time comes to commemorate a loved one, it is only natural to want to do so in that person's native language to pay tribute to his or her culture, origins and customs. This is why Æterna Funeral Complex strives to serve its clientele in their native language, almost every time.
A part of your very essence
As a symbol of cultural and social identity, the native language plays a central role in attachment and enables the child to forge his or her own identity within the clan. It precisely determines a person's origin, since there are multiple dialects for the same language. For example, Saguenéens, Alsatians, Montrealers and Belgians all speak French, but each group has its own expressions and intonations that indicate their origins!
Your family or community may even have its own little favourite expressions that create a sense of belonging to your roots. They are part of you and the legacy you leave to your loved ones.
Incredible diversity
It is estimated that about 7,000 languages are spoken in the world, not counting dialects. That's a lot! Although they can't speak them all, our advisors can nevertheless serve you in 13 different languages: English, French, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Armenian, Mandarin, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotian, Lebanese and Creole. Communication with you and your family members is therefore adapted to your language and culture, making preparations much easier.
Here is a common greeting in 11 different languages:
French Bienvenue
English Welcome

Italian Benvenuto
Greek ΚΑΛΩΣ ΗΡΘΑΤΕ
Armenian Nղջույն
Simplified Chinese 欢迎
Vietnamese Chào mừng
